2020, Remembered

First night out for a 10-day paddle, I discovered one of my shoes is missing. Friend, Marci, loans me a flip flop to relieve me wearing neoprene booties day and night.Circumnavigated Isla Carmen in the Sea of Cortez. Chores shared by all. Scorpions flouresce in black light. After Day 1 the seas were never this calm.
Friend, Mike, joined me, making for fun times in La Paz during Quijote’s layover.
January 20th, SV Quijote’s journey resumed after a two month hiatus to explore the history, culture, and wildlife of the Baja Peninsula and the Sea of Cortez while hiking the islands and sailing for two months.
March 19 the decision was made to postpone this journey due to uncertainties related to the world-wide Covid-19 pandemic. Rod and I prepare Quijote for storage on the hard, pack our duffles, and hop on board SV Rover (top photo) departing March 22nd. We crewed for Skipper Eric and First-Mate Linda from La Paz to San Diego. The direct route is also known as The Baja Bash. It was an exciting month of sailing and bashing.
Arrive San Diego April 26 under cover of night falling, with many uncertainties and unknown circumstances of being accepted into
the good ‘ole U.S. of A. No problems.

Linda deftly sews us protective face masks.

After a deep slumber, on April 27th Rod and I fetch a rental car and head to Seattle by way of Palm Desert. Arrive Seattle April 30.
Ann welcomed me to her Basement Nest for Quarantining where I began to wonder about the future. With tips from friends and the abundant information on YouTube and the internet, ideas became reality.
First came Buttercup and soon afterwards, Lulu.

Distance visiting with family.
Fun times with friends, missing are those who don’t enjoy having their photos taken,
Mt. Rainier, Fort Steven’s, Cape Disappointment. Camping and memorable times with
Chris and Emily.
Dad becomes very wise.
Signs of the Times
Truly, we’re in a Pickle
Surreal.
