Arrived San Diego Saturday, April 25th after departing La Paz, MX March 22nd, a 1200 mile transit. One dock stop for fuel on March 26th and we haven’t stepped foot off the boat since. It’s been a wild and wonderful ride, yet we’re all happy to be on solid ground in the good ‘ole U S.A.
It was with a certain level of grieving that I watched the sun set over the Pacific, knowing that this adventure, at least for now, is over.
Rather than spending the night offshore to wait for morning light, we entered a descending fog enclosing San Diego Bay after dark. Entrance to the Bay is dredged. With careful watch for green and red buoys, we made our way to the police dock. Skipper Eric phoned customs and…. we’re in! No quarantine, no face-to-face check-in, not even any questions about how long we’ve been out. We’re free to move about the U.S., so-to-speak.
Once Rover was settled for the night we congratulated ourselves with a quick celebratory libation and promptly fell into relaxed slumber for 10 hours straight.
With renewed energy, Rod and I made plans. We’ll say goodbye to Linda, Eric and Rover on April 27th and make our way to Seattle in a rental car. Linda is sewing masks for everyone and there’s plenty of disposable gloves, spray disinfectant, and hand sanitizer to keep ourselves minimally exposed.
It will be curious to experience how life has changed and get an idea of the immensity of change you have all had to make to accommodate this new order of lifestyle. Looking forward to Quarantini’s and on-line visiting.
