We’ve been stuck in this marina for-e.v.e.r.: Puerto Escondido, the ultra nice, super expensive marina. We’d been planning on a three night stay, compromising amongst crew for a shorter stay, tied at the dock. It’s been seven nights.
The week started out calm-ish. And it didn’t seem so bad when we attempted departure 4 days ago. However, after slipping out of our slip, we weren’t able to be anything but broadside to the wind, couldn’t get out of the alley to exit the marina. Rod wrestled with Mother Nature’s strength as long as possible before shooting in to a nearby empty slip where we’ve now been hanging tight, waiting for an open departure window.
Winds have been whipping up frothy conditions in this ‘hurricane hole’ all week with seas outside the hole keeping all but the small Uncruise ship hunkered down.
Amusing ourselves with another rental car day, hiking the hills around the marina, and a daily game of cribbage (with cocktail!) it’s been quite tolerable, but it’s time to go! There’s barely a breeze on the water this morning. We’ll be motoring. But at least we’ll be gazing at stars tonight rather than marina lights.
