Early to Rise. August 16

Singing shrouds lulled me to sleep last evening, and the winds kept up most of the night. It was a restless sleep. Yet when 4am rolled around I was ready to ‘hop to’. We quietly motored out of Port Townsend, into the dark bay. However, as we rounded the corner, staying well clear of point Wilson I noticed a red light, a green light, and a white light. The tell trail sign of a vessel straight off your bow, and it was bearing down, we were coming closer! Fortunately, our cool, calm Skipper was at the helm, confidently managing, with no issues. Everything looks closer in the dark. It was no near miss.
Current in the strait was in our favor, helping to move us ever closer to the big left turn at Cape Flattery. Calm seas, no wind, nice swell coming straight at us.
Wanting to sleep more than chance a glimpse of familiar terrain at the coast, I settled in for a 4 hour rest before being on watch at 10pm.
Ahhh. Rock a bye swell. Sweet dreams.
